🌐💃 What does International Women's Day mean to you? IWD for me is about being positive. It’s about sharing the great thing that we women have done and can do. It’s about showing that even in a world designed for men, we can and do achieve things that are bloody brilliant. But it’s also about recognising that we haven’t finished on the journey to equity, but we are collectively stepping up to the challenge. 🤔🚺 How does your individual experience shape your point of view on womanhood? The expectations held by many people that because I am a woman, I'm planning on having children has prompted me to think about how we change the conversation around women's career plans and the things they hope to achieve, particularly in their 30s. I'm at an age now where more and more people are making the (incorrect) assumption that I'll plan to have a baby soon.I greatly admire the mothers I know and I love being an auntie. And I'm proud to champion flexible working for mothers returning to work, in my capacity as co-chair of Inspire, Network Rail's employee network for gender equality. But it's not a path I'm pursuing and that's an important point to consider when we talk about achieving equity for women. Equity means listening to what people want and giving them the tools and the opportunity to help them get there.Listen to your peers and your teams. What are their plans? What are their ambitions? And what can you do to help them achieve the same outcome as someone else?Let's look at a few examples...I love riding my motorbike. But just finding a bike that I can ride is more challenging for me because I’m not the size of the average man that bikes are built for. So I best get in the garage and lower it because at 5ft 1 I’m far shorter than the average man.If I want to make a contribution in a large meeting, well, I need to speak that bit louder because my naturally higher pitched voice won’t travel as far as the man sat next to me. So maybe give people around you with quieter voices the chance to be heard. And when I need to visit the trackside at work, that means putting on PPE for women to fit my smaller frame so my trousers don’t hang over the ends of my boots. Something that's now possible thanks to contributions by Inspire and our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion colleagues.I am proud of who I am and I wouldn’t change anything but I – and my peers –need equity. Because sometimes, making a goal achievable for all takes just a little adjustment. ✊💜#InternationalWomensDay#InspireInclusion#InvestInWomen#InspireNetworkRail#Women#WomenInRail#WomenInTransport#WomenEmpowerment#StrongWoman#NetworkRailInspire

Celebrating Women in Business 🎉 There's a wave of change sweeping the entrepreneurial landscape, and it's painted with a distinctly feminine hue. Women are making their mark in the world, shattering glass ceilings and building legacies. It is no longer surprising to see women take up the mantle of leadership in entrepreneurship. They're running successful businesses, creating jobs, and adding value to their communities - all while juggling multiple roles. There are challenges, of course. Struggles with securing funding, developing strategic growth plans, and maintaining work-life balance are common. But those hurdles haven't stopped these women from proving themselves capable, innovative leaders ready to take on the world. Which brings me to another point - women's empowerment isn't just about individual success stories. It's about collaboration and lifting each other up. Many female entrepreneurs are using their platforms to mentor others, offering invaluable advice and guidance to those just starting out on their journey. So today, let’s not only celebrate these inspirational women but also examine how we can better support them as they continue to pave new paths in business and beyond. Let's all work together towards a future where gender equality isn't just a buzzword but a lived reality for everyone.

As we mark International Women's Day, its pretty great to be able to share some remarkable strides in gender equality, particularly in boardrooms across the UK's top companies where I read recently that women now hold 42% of board seats! It's undoubtedly a sign of progress, but for me it also serves as a poignant reminder of the journey that lies ahead. You might wonder at this point, why post about it? Isn't there a risk of it being perceived as singing to the same tune as everyone else on this marked day?Let me share why I believe posting on International Women's Day goes beyond mere advocacy and how it contributes to a larger narrative.Sharing on this occasion goes far beyond following a crowd; it needs to be about creating a catalyst for meaningful dialogues, heightened awareness, and a commitment to collective action for continued change. Each post carries the potential not only to inspire but also to educate and motivate individuals to take strides forwards that align with their beliefs, and contributing to positive change. It's not about being a woman; it's about being the right person for the task at hand, fostering a spirit of inclusivity and impact.Whilst we might celebrate the strides made on this marked day, it's essential to recognise the persistent obstacles that still demand attention. Recent articles shed light on the experiences of women in the tech sector, where we've witnessed a commendable leap forward, with the gender gap in tech jobs narrowing across the UK and EU. This progress is fuelled by factors such as flexible work arrangements and a rising demand for IT roles, facilitating a more inclusive work environment, particularly for working mothers. However, the call for greater diversity remains crucial, especially within the world of AI.In the realm of leadership, women often ascend to prominent roles during challenging periods, navigating at times real complexity in certain situations. While success stories demonstrate resilience, they also underscore the importance of providing support and opportunities for women to not only survive but thrive in such environments.Let this #InternationalWomensDay serve as a reminder of the power of collective action and the importance of striving for equity to achieve true equality. Your actions, whether large or small, contribute to building a future where everyone has the support and opportunity to thrive.#IWD2024 #WomenInTech #EqualityAndEquity #CollectiveAction 💪✨

Namaskaram to All.In a world where diversity is celebrated, where inclusivity is championed, and where equality is the cornerstone of progress, we must recognize and appreciate the immense potential and capabilities of women. Women, who have for centuries played diverse and indispensable roles in society, are often underestimated, undervalued, or marginalized. It is time to shed light on the profound truth that all women on this planet possess the inherent ability to become everything that a man can be and more. The ability of women to become mothers is a miraculous gift that embodies the essence of creation and nurturance. However, it is crucial to acknowledge that being a mother is just one facet of a woman's multifaceted identity. Women are sisters, daughters, friends, wives, leaders, and so much more. They possess the strength, resilience, intelligence, and creativity to excel in various roles and contribute to every aspect of life.Women have the power to lead nations, inspire movements, drive innovation, foster relationships, and bring about positive change in the world. They have shattered glass ceilings, challenged stereotypes, and repeatedly proven that their potential knows no bounds. From the boardroom to the classroom, from the laboratory to the battlefield, women have demonstrated their ability to excel and thrive in diverse fields, often against formidable odds.To truly honor and respect women for all that they are and all that they can be, we must dismantle the barriers of discrimination, prejudice, and inequality that hold them back. We must create a society that values and empowers women, that provides equal opportunities for growth and advancement, and that embraces diversity as a source of strength and richness. It is only through collective effort and unwavering commitment that we can create a world where women are indeed seen, heard, and valued for their inherent worth and potential. Let us celebrate the infinite capabilities of women, let us uplift and support them in their journey toward self-actualization, and let us build a future where gender equality is not just a dream but a reality. In conclusion, let us all strive to look at women with the respect, love, and appreciation they deserve. Let us recognize and embrace the truth that women can become everything that a man is capable of and more. Together, let us create a world where gender does not limit potential, where diversity is celebrated, and where all individuals are valued for who they are and what they bring to the table.Good morning 🌞 I hope your day starts with this message. Thank you to all my friends, family, neighbors, etc. Special thanks to all my teachers around the globe.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 ❤️❤️❤️❤️ ❤️❤️ ❤️

🌟 Celebrating Women's Day: Why Empowering Women MattersWhile we are still celebrating IWD, I find myself pondering the true essence of women empowerment, especially in the face of questions from some of my male colleagues: "Why all this fuss for women and nothing for men?" or "Shouldn't we treat everyone equally?"These questions, though well-intentioned, reveal a common misconception—that empowering women means diminishing the value of men. On the contrary, it's about creating a world where everyone, regardless of gender, has equal opportunities to thrive. Here's why it's crucial:1️⃣ Breaking Barriers : Women often encounter invisible barriers that hinder their progress in various fields. Empowerment is about shattering these barriers and creating a level playing field.2️⃣ Fueling Economic Growth : Gender equality isn't just a social issue; it's an economic one too. Studies show that empowering women can significantly boost economies by increasing productivity and innovation.3️⃣ A Fundamental Right : Equality is a basic human right. Every individual, regardless of gender, deserves the same rights and opportunities to succeed.4️⃣ Diverse Perspectives : Women bring unique perspectives and ideas to the table, enriching decision-making processes and driving innovation.5️⃣ Inspiring Future Generations : When women succeed, they become beacons of inspiration for future generations, encouraging them to dream big and challenge stereotypes.6️⃣ Healthier Communities : Empowered women prioritize health and well-being, leading to healthier families and communities.7️⃣ Community Development : Empowered women are more likely to invest in education, health, and community development, leading to overall progress.8️⃣ Ending Gender-Based Violence : Empowerment initiatives play a crucial role in ending gender-based violence, creating safer environments for everyone.9️⃣ Fulfilling Potential : Every individual, including women, has the right to fulfill their potential and pursue their dreams.🔟 Challenging Stereotypes : Empowerment challenges harmful stereotypes and biases, paving the way for a more inclusive and diverse society. This International Women's Day, let's celebrate the progress we've made and recommit ourselves to building a world where everyone, regardless of gender, can thrive. What other reasons would you add to this list?#internationalwomensday2024 #EmpowerWomen #GenderEquality #Inclusion #Diversity

The theme for International Women's Day 2024 is “Inspire Inclusion” meaning to celebrate diversity and empowerment on International Women's Day 2024 and beyond. The campaign theme for 2024 highlights the value of empowerment and diversity in all spheres of society. The topic for this year underscores how important inclusion is to attaining gender equality. It demands action to dismantle obstacles, dispel myths, and provide settings where every woman is recognized and cherished. The goal of Inspire Inclusion is to raise awareness of the distinctive viewpoints and valuable contributions that women; including those from underrepresented communities — bring to society.Within the film business, there has been a rising trend in recent years to stress representation and inclusivity. To guarantee that women from all backgrounds have equal opportunity to engage in and thrive in the sector, there is still a lot of work to be done. Our cinematic world may become more inclusive and representative if we encourage and elevate the voices of female filmmakers.Today, males take advantage of the wonderful occasion to greet all women across a very Happy International Women's Day.Regardless of your gender, whether you are a baby, kid, adolescent, adult, senior, divorcee, or widow, you are all a woman.Similar to how we refer to Mother Nature, women are the most vital and significant people in the world. Without them, population growth would not occur. The generation would not have reached certain milestones without them. Newborn babies would not have been able to appreciate the beauty of dawns and dusks without them. Without them, "mists," "smogs," and "fogs" would have confused the nature of existence. Women are individuals who provide enjoyment, comfort, and support into other people's lives.Women are the ones with the ability to alter one's emotions.Beauty flourishes in women's lives, girdling them with the perfume and fragrance of love.Women, you are the ones who have elevated your value and education knowledge, who have the ability to end racism, battle prostitution, end inequity, and who have the key to changing emotions.Without you, women, we men are nothing. You dominate the planet, and we submit to you. Every single one of you women is amazing.Though not yet accepted, the claim that a woman created the world is true. The task of creating the world requires great bravery and strength. Because all ladies are invincible in the same way. I pray that you will always be blessed and revered by all men.The time has come for us men to submit to you and admit defeat. Respect will always be a commitment made to all women worldwide.

Today is International Womens Day, how will you acknowledge it?International Women's Day is about celebrating the achievements of women, raising awareness about gender equality, and advocating for women's rights worldwide. It's a day to recognise the progress made and acknowledge the work that still needs to be done to achieve true gender parity.Every year, when International Women's Day comes around, I hear at least one person ask, "When is International Men's Day then?" The answer is simple: International Men's Day usually runs from 9th March until 7th March the following year!"Actually it is observed on November 19th so there you go, you have an official day too but not for the same reasons. So what’s this about inequality, you ask? There are still issues in many countries with -Gender pay gap: Women, on average, earn less than men for the same work.Lack of representation in leadership roles: Women are underrepresented in senior and executive positions.Unpaid care work: Women still perform a disproportionate amount of unpaid care work, impacting their ability to participate fully in the workforce.Workplace harassment and discrimination: Women are more likely to experience harassment and discrimination in the workplace.Lack of equal opportunities: Women often have less access to training, mentorship, and career advancement opportunities than men.Stereotypes and biases: Gender stereotypes and biases can influence hiring, promotion, and performance evaluation decisions, disadvantaging women in the workforce. I’ve seen this firsthand when a company I worked for didn’t hire me at first because I had small children. They saw my diligence working for another company and hired me the following year. And yes they told me later about it, weird right! I don’t think I’d have taken the job if I’d known that prior, just out of principal but I stuck it out and I hope it helped pave the way for other women who would follow.International Women's Day is just one day of the year, and some sadly still don't get that; it isn't a day about 'cake, ice cream and presents, so where is mine' sort of event. It is a day when women simply ask to be seen, to be recognised as equals, and to ask others to reflect on the reasons why gender inequality remains in this modern ageWhat can you do about it? At the very least, start with acknowledging that there wouldn't need to be a day of recognition if inequality didn't exist. Yes, we have come a long way, but there is still a mountain to climb. Let's reflect on what has been accomplished so far, let’s celebrate the incredible achievements of women around the world, and keep working towards a society that is more inclusive and equal for all genders#InternationalWomensDay #GenderEquality #WomensRights
